Turtle release set Friday morningFree Access

Another “Freedom Friday” turtle release is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 22.
Three loggerheads and a few green turtles will be released by staff and volunteers from the ARK (Amos Rehabilitation Keep) at Marker 35 on the beach.
Turtles and other wildlife found ill or injured are brought to the ARK on the grounds of the University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas. There, they are nursed back to health, and if the odds are that they can survive in the wild, they are released.
The ARK is supported by a nonprofit group called Friends of the ARK, as well as private donations. To make a donation, go to the ARK website, utmsi.utexas.edu/about/facilities/ark/donate-ark
Anyone who sees a stranded or nesting sea turtle is asked to call the Turtle Hotline: 1-866-887-8537.
Calls about injured shore birds should be directed to the ARK Hotline at (361)749-6793.
