Here’s a heads-up if you are planning to drive between Port Aransas and Corpus Christi by way of North Padre Island next week.
Maintenance work-related lane closures will take place on the Humble Channel Bridge on eastbound Park Road 22 from Monday to Thursday, Dec. 8 to 11, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The closures are taking part to accommodate ongoing maintenance work on bridges along the JFK Causeway, TxDOT reported.
On Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 8 and 9, the outside right lane and shoulder will be closed. The closure will remain overnight.
From Wednesday to Thursday, Dec. 10 and 11, the left lane and inside shoulder will be closed. That closure will remain overnight also.
All lanes are expected to be open by the end of the day on Thursday. The work isn’t expected to affect other lanes on the causeway.
“Motorists are urged to be alert to the closures, slow down in the work zone and watch for workers and equipment,” said a news release issued by TxDOT today (Friday, Dec. 5).
