Second in division; first in overall performance

Port Aransas Swim Team placed second in its division at the 2012 Corpus Christi City Championship Swim Meet last weekend, July 20- 22, even though they only took a few swimmers to compete.

The meet was held at the Corpus Christi Natatorium and hosted more than 16 different teams from the Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.

The team placed first in its division overall for the performances in its league division for dual meets this summer. They are undefeated in these.

The swim team’s next stop is the TAAF State Games of Texas at the natatorium beginning this evening, Thursday, July 26, and concluding in the morning on Sunday, July 29. They will take 24 swimmers to that competition, which will host swimmers from all over the state.

Following are the results from the championship meet by individual.

Hailey Clark won second place in the 9-10 female 50 meter freestyle and the 9-10 female 100 meter individual medley. Clark took first place in both the 9-10 female 25 meter freestyle and the 9-10 female 25 meter butterfly stroke.

Hayley Kinsner placed 19th in the 11-12 female 50 meter freestyle; 26th in the 11-12 female 100 meter freestyle and 17th in the 11-12 female 50 meter butterfly stroke.

Ian McClelland took first place in the male 10 and under 100 meter freestyle.

Kayla Spaeth placed 21st in the 11-12 female 50 meter backstroke and 24th in the 11-12 female 50 meter breaststroke.

Hunter Stunz won second place in both the male 6 and under 25 meter back stroke and male 6 and under 25 meter freestyle.

Cas Ward placed 32nd in both the 11-12 male 50 meter backstroke and 11-12 male 100 meter freestyle. He placed 20th in the 11-12 male 50 meter butterfly stroke and 35th in the 11-12 male 50 meter freestyle.

Jenna Ward placed third in the 15-18 female 200 meter freestyle, fourth in the 15-18 female 50 meter backstroke, seventh in both the 15-18 female 50 meter freestyle and 15-18 female 100 meter freestyle and fifth in the 15-18 female 50 meter breaststroke.
