An overturned boat with no one aboard drifted onto a sandbar near Marker 17 on the beach in Port Aransas today (Thursday, June 12).
Members of the Coast Guard rescued people from the boat when it capsized about four miles off Mustang Island on Sunday, according to Al Oswalt, senior response officer with Texas General Land Office Oil Spill Prevention and Response. The boat, reported to be about 21 feet long, then drifted toward the island.
The boat’s owner is going to try to get the boat to shore, Oswalt said.
The vessel isn’t believed to be leaking fuel, he said.
