A suspect in the shooting deaths of two Port Aransas restaurant workers is in custody, according to a Facebook post made today (Friday, May 12), by law enforcement.
The suspect was identified as Maurice Sample, 30, of Aransas Pass, said the Facebook post made by Oscar Rivera, sheriff of San Patricio County.
The bodies of Brandon Barboza, 27, and XXavier Marchus, 26, both Aransas Pass residents, were found in a vehicle in a field near Aransas Pass on Monday, May 8. Both worked as cooks at Roosevelt’s restaurant.
Sample was a co-worker, Rivera wrote in the Facebook post.
The sheriff’s post said that:
- The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division established Sample as a suspect by working with Aransas Pass Police Department and Crime Stoppers. The post didn’t say specifically what allegedly linked Sample to the killings.
• With the help of federal agencies, it was determined that Sample left Aransas Pass on the morning of the shooting. - Law enforcement tracked Sample to Maryland, where U.S. marshals helped serve a murder warrant and apprehend him. The sheriff’s post didn’t say what day that happened.
