Port Aransas City Hall has initiated a beach campfire burn ban starting this morning, Wednesday, March 12.
The burn ban is officially in effect due to the extreme dry condition in the dunes, according to City Manager David Parsons.
Signage has been placed at all beach entry roads.
The ban will prohibit campfires on the beach and will be in effect until conditions improve.
The City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County have enacted similar prohibitions.
