Man-made habitats can benefit canals



In December, Port Aransas Rotary Club members had a cage-like structure installed beneath a boat dock at the Island Moorings waterfront community to serve as a sort of miniature artificial reef that benefits the environment. Farenthold, former congressman, dies at 63



Former U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, a four-term Republican congressman from Corpus Christi and local radio host, died last week from a heart attack after struggling with chronic liver disease, according to a close friend who worked on his radio show. PAST tops Alice team at home meet

HOT tax matter could go to voters



Port Aransas voters soon could decide whether the city will pursue funding Civic Center renovations as well as improvements to surrounding streetscapes with hotel occupancy tax (HOT) revenue. Corns make Hall of Fame



Rick and Virginia Corn, who for years were significant figures on the local waterfront, recently were inducted into the Port Aransas Boatmen Hall of Fame.
