Deep benches spelled defeat for the Brundrett Middle School seventh and eighth grade basketball teams when they went to Falls City on Monday, Nov. 27.

The eighth grade Marlins, all seven of them, fell to a 17-man Falls City roster, 47-17.

“They just kept bringing in a fresh group and eventually ran our boys down,” said Coach Bryan Flack.

Our kids showed determination along with their never-say-quit attitude,” he added. High point man for the Marlins was Mac Owens who scored nine points.

In the seventh grade game, a 19-man Falls City Beaver bench outscored the eight-man Port Aransas team 41-12.

“They were a very good team. They were fast and strong. Our kids never stopped competing. I was proud of their persistence and hustle,” Flack said.

Ben Scott and Connor Collins each scored four points, while Matt Fries and Blue Shodrock hit for two points apiece.
