Lady anglers score big fish, big cash

The Sancha was the overall winner with 1,025 points when women anglers competed for $388,600 in cash pot awards in the 2018 Texas Women Anglers Tournament Friday through Sunday, Aug. 24 through 26.

Anglers aboard 46 boats caught and released 17 sailfish, 14 white marlins and 7 blue marlins.

The Rebecca came in second with 772.40 points.

Rebecca Ramming and Tara Termeer caught the first-place blue marlin with two releases. They fished aboard the Rebecca.

Sheena Schnider on the Bandit caught and released the second place blue marlin.

The first-place white marlin award went to Lisa Moore on the Boomin’ It up with two releases.

Cindy Segrest and Stephanie Hubbard aboard the Live Situation took home the second-place white marlin honors with two releases.

The first-place sailfish award went to Jennifer Cameron, Karen Hurst, Heidi Cluck and Tally Ragsdale on the Sancha. These ladies caught and released five sailfish.

The team of Laurie, Jordan and Alyssa Soechting on the Fin Stalker took second place with three sailfish releases.

Lisa Fontane on the Double T-Zer caught the first-place wahoo. It weighed in at 75.30 pounds.

The second-place 50.20-pound wahoo was caught by Taylor Garcia, also on the Double T-Zer.

A 19.65-pound tuna was the first-place winner. It was caught by Charla Wooten on the Mighty Mouse.

Jackie Heath aboard the Doc Holiday caught the second-place tuna. It weighed in at 14.75 pounds.

The first-place dorado was caught by Shana Collins on the Heartache. The fish weighed in at 35.80 pounds.

Cassie Riner aboard the Deez Nautz brought in the second-place 26.30-pound dorado.

The best-dressed captain award went to the captain of the Suthern’s Pride.

Prizes also were given for the best-decorated boats.

Suthern’s Pride was voted the first-place winner and Heartache was named the second-place winner.

The Basante took third-place honors.
