The JELM (Joint Effort Leisure Ministry) Center offers a wide variety of activities for people of all ages.

A calendar of regular events is in this edition of the South Jetty and a more detailed calendar of events can be found at the JELM office, 113 S. Alister St.

Registration with the JELM is required to participate in classes and trips, and the fee is $3 per individual or $5 per couple to register.

Lenten Bible study

A Lenten Bible study is being held on Wednesdays in March at 4 p.m. in the JELM library, 710 W. Ave. A.

Bob Malsack, interim pastor at the Community Presbyterian Church, is focusing on the Exodus experience of God’s chosen people in his study called “Reflections on Exodus in the Journey of Lent.”

Two Sisters crafts

Open forums Thursday, March 14 and March 21.

Cost is $6 and includes all materials. Class size is limited to 15 students and is held in the hospitality room at 1 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

Folks are encouraged to bring in their craft ideas, pictures of crafts they have seen in magazines and perhaps those they need help to accomplish.

On Thursday, March 21, an additional crafts class will be held at 10 a.m., where folks will learn how to make a Mah Jongg tile necklace. Cost is $5 and includes all materials.

Yoga class

Yoga classes are held on Fridays at 9:15 a.m. in the Pollock Center.

Morning exercise

Morning exercise classes will continue through March, and if enough people would like to continue in April, they should discuss this with their leaders.

JELM Center hours

The JELM office will have reduced hours in March and April.

Leaders are encouraged to talk to Pat Reilly, JELM Center director, to schedule those hours.

Mah Jongg, bridge

Mah Jongg and bridge will continue as long as participants would like to play.
