Under construction

The rumblings of frontend loaders, the shrieks of electric saws and the ka- POWs of nail guns echo through Port Aransas neighborhoods every weekday as construction continues to boom, a trend that’s been going on for a few years now. So far this year, some 70 residential and four commercial building permits have been issued. Total value: $22.4 million. (See related story, page 1A.)

Clockwise from upper right: Workers build a road on the grounds of Sunflower Beach, a development off Beach Access Road 1; Horacio Alejandro of John Johnson Wood Builders does some measuring along the top of a wall at a house under construction in the 1900 block of South 11th Street; work is underway on 15 houses and six townhomes in the Cinnamon Shore subdivision; Aaron Walpole of Coastal Custom Homes adjusts scaffolding at a house under construction on Tarrant Avenue; and John Johnson checks out construction plans on the site of a house his company is building at Paradise Pointe.
