Tidwell





Billie Dee Tidwell of Port Aransas died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was 79.

Tidwell was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Denton County, to George Dee Tidwell and Willie E. Miller Tidwell.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and was a reserve for six years.

Tidwell studied business and banking and worked for First National Bank of Frederick, Okla. He worked there in all capacities for 38 years including vice president and loan officer.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Frederick, was a member and a past president of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce of Frederick. Additionally he was the treasurer for the Frederick Public Schools for several years. He was active in the Future Farmer’s of America and was involved in the annual Tillman County Livestock Show.

Tidwell and his wife retired to Port Aransas fifteen years ago to enjoy the saltwater fishing. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Port Aransas.

His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ava Tidwell of Port Aransas; two daughters, Karen (John) Alexander of Gallup, N.M., and Lana (David) Scott of Altus, Okla.; two sisters, Leona (Doyle) Givens of Frederick, and Winnell (Percy) Witty of Bridgeport; and five grandchildren, Kristina Scott, Kaci Scott, Jacob Alexander, Jordan Alexander and Jared Alexander.

Visitation was held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Visitation for family and friends will be held tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 6, at Jackson Funeral Home in Frederick. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery. James Bruster of the Church of Christ in Port Aransas will officiate.
