Theft charges against Wilson are dismissed

Charges have been dismissed in the case of a former Port Aransas restaurateur who had been accused of theft, according to court records.

The charges against Billy Joe Wilson were dismissed in 347th District Court in Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Aug. 30, records indicated.

A clerk in the Nueces County District Clerk’s Office confirmed that no charges against Wilson remain.

Attempts to reach Wilson, his attorney and the prosecutor involved were unsuccessful.

On his Facebook page, Wilson wrote that he was innocent and was glad to put the matter behind him.

“It’s been a long three and a half years working to clear my name,” he wrote. “I’ve suffered trauma, loss of everything, heart break and rebuilding from scratch.”

Wilson was indicted on two state-jail felony charges of theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000 in 2019, police said at the time.
