Tryouts for new swimmers have been set for the Port Aransas Swim Team’s (PAST) summer swimming club on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 2 and 3.
Those interested in trying out should come on one of the dates from 4:45 to 6 p.m. at the Port Aransas Community Park pool, 700 Clark Parkway.
Swimmers must show that they can swim two pool lengths without assistance.
Registration for new swimmers and those already on the team is available online at portaransas.swimtopia.com by clicking on the green “register now” button.
Registration closes Friday, June 2.
The registration fee is $75 for the first child and $65 for additional children in the family.
Practices will begin on Tuesday May 2, and run from 4:45 to 6 p.m. throughout the month of May.
In June and July, practices are set for Tuesday through Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday from 4:45 to 6 p.m.
Swim meets begin in June on Saturdays.
The tentative meet dates are June 10, 17 and 24; and July 8, 15 and 22, with the state meet in McAllen July 29 through 30.
A swim-a-thon is set for Monday, June 19.
A press release from the PAST provided the following information: “Swimming is a family sport.
We ask that all parents participate by volunteering, which includes meet entries, ready bench, timing, turn and stroke judging, meet set-up and breakdown, administration and the board of directors.”
PAST also needs business sponsors.
