The last concert in the Sunset Sounds series is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 12.

David and Barbara Brown will play traditional and contemporary American folk music at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park beginning at 7 p.m. The Browns originally were scheduled to play on Friday, Sept. 14, but that concert was cancelled due to rain.

The free outdoor concert will continue until 9 p.m.

Bring a chair or blanket and any food or drink you desire.

The Browns have been musical partners for 13 years and have been married for 38 years.

According to Pam Greene, community program director for the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, the couple combines closeknit harmonies with a multiinstrumental approach, and their songs wistfully echo the spirit of our country’s musical past in an honest and simple style.

Elements of bluegrass, gospel, Texas folk and country all contribute to their musical blend.

The Sunset Sounds concert series is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department and is held the second Friday of each month, from April to October.

Starting in January, the Parks Department will begin its free Winter Sounds concerts series.

The concerts are held once a month in January and February in the Port Aransas Community Theatre (PACT.) The series is a joint effort between the PACT and the Parks and Recreation Department.
