Story time to focus on turtles

The Bill Ellis Memorial Library will celebrate turtles on Saturday, May 14.

Stop by the library, 700 W. Ave. A, at 10 a.m. for a story and craft time.

Annette Anderson, library clerk, will read “Truman” by Jean Reidy and illustrated by Lucy Ruth Cummins. The book was a New York Times best children’s book of 2019.

“Truman” is the story of a tortoise named Truman that goes on an adventure across the living room when his best friend Sarah leaves for her first day of school.

After story time, participants will complete a turtle craft.

World Turtle Day is celebrated around the world on May 23, and the library will be honoring the shelled animal a little ahead of the worldwide celebration.
