They’re going to state!
The Port Aransas High School varsity boys’ cross-country team will advance to the state meet as a result of taking fourth place at the regional meet at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on Monday, Oct. 24.
It will be the Marlins’ 14th straight trip to the state meet.
Will Carlough was the varsity boys’ top finisher, taking sixth place and earning all-region honors.
Elsa Temples, the sole Lady Marlins runner who made it to the regional level, didn’t place highly enough to earn herself a berth at state.
But she has plenty to be proud of.
“She finished the season as the individual district champion and (had) a very respectable showing at the regional meet,” said Steve Reaves, coach of the PAHS boys’ and girls’ teams. “She is a junior, so she will get another shot at it next year.”
The state meet will be at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Friday, Nov. 4.
