Memorial services for three-time Port Aransas Mayor Charles Bujan are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Port Aransas Civic Center.
Bujan, 77, was nearing the end of his third term as mayor when he died on Wednesday, Feb. 9. He had been battling pancreatic cancer for several months.
Bujan was born and raised in Port Aransas. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company in New Jersey for some years, then returned to Port Aransas in the 1990s.
He worked for years as a fishing guide in Port Aransas, operating Beacon Charter Service.
Bujan was elected to the Port Aransas City Council in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2014.
He was elected mayor in 2016, 2018 and 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to The Mayor Bujan Community Scholarship Fund, American Bank, 216 S. Alister St., Port Aransas, TX., 78373.
