Port Aransas cross-country coach Steve Reaves said he was “very pleased” with runners in the first cross-country meet of the season on Saturday, Aug. 27, at H.P. Garcia Park in Corpus Christi.

“It was very hot with little breeze,” Reaves noted. “The course was long again this year … so as a result, the times were slow for everybody.”

Students are always worn out after the first week of school, he added.

“ This was a 4A and 5A meet, so our girls ran in the junior varsity division and our boys ran in both the JV and varsity divisions,” Reaves said. “It should be a fun year. Right now, everybody is excited and working hard.” Varsity boys 5K run Matt Fries, 18:03, 6th Austin Henderson, 18:57, 18th Randy Borden, 19:28 Alex Groseclose, 19:57 Chris Eggleston, 22:07 Andrew Hardegree, 22:48 Varsity girls 2-mile run Arianna Marraro, 15:30 Megan Forrest, 15:38 Brenna Martin, 16:50 Emma Shannon, 16:55 Meagan Hardegree, 18:04 Jessica Craft, 19:36 JV boys 2-mile run Caleb Rogers, 12:50 Tyler Collier, 13:29 Victor Valdivia, 14:02 Jason Morris, 14:15 Said Morales, 14:45 Chase Chambers, 15:50 Elliott Morris, 15:52
