Roundup a success

Organizers of the 2018 Emergency Services Toy Roundup said they have had another successful year providing toys to Port Aransas children who might not otherwise have had presents under their trees.

“Donations went good,” said Joe Garza with the Roundup. “We could have had more donations, but we had a good response.”

He said that many are still recovering from Harvey so the donations weren’t as much as they wished, but he felt like they did well as far as the collections went.

Garza said that 49 families with 122 kids received gift cards to purchase Christmas presents.

The gift cards were handed out on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Civic Center.

Members of the Port Aransas EMS, police and volunteer fire departments organize the annual event to give toys to needy Port Aransas children.
