Preliminary Public Notice for Potential Impacts to Floodplains

The Texan Store intends to seek financial assistance from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business Service (RBS) for the construction of a fueling station, including underground storage tanks (UST) for the use of higher blended fuels. The proposed project will extend the existing Texan Store facility by adding additional covered fuel stations, associated parking, and installing additional USTs and will consist of fueling stations with overhead canopies and parking lot. The project will also include the construction of a new driveway providing ingress / egress from State Highway 361. The address of the existing facility is 3401 Highway 361, Port Aransas, Nueces County, Texas 78373. If implemented, the entire proposed project will convert approximately 2 acres of a 100-year floodplain through the construction of impervious surface. In accordance with Executive Order 11988, Floodplain Management and USDA Departmental Regulation 9500-3, Land Use Policy, the purpose of this notice is to inform the public of this proposed conversion or effect and request comments concerning the proposal, alternative sites or actions that would avoid these impacts, and methods that could be used to minimize these impacts.
