Project Graduation committee seeks donations

It’s not too late to donate to the 2022 Project Graduation party for Port Aransas High School students.

Donations of cash, merchandise and gift cards are still being accepted for the free all-night chemical-free lock-in party for graduating seniors that begins after graduation on Thursday, May 26.

“Project Graduation is a program offered by many high schools in the United States, during which organized, adult-supervised and alcohol-free activities are offered as part of a post-graduation party, as an alternative to a student-run events involving alcoholic beverages or other drugs,” said a press release from the Project Graduation committee.

All donations will be used for the 2022 graduating class.

“Each year we start from zero and use all the donations to ensure that each graduate leaves the event well-fed, having had a great time and with at least one door prize and one large gift,” the release said.

The committee also is selling Port Aransas flags to raise money. The flags are $20 each and may be purchased at Fly It! Port A, 405 W. Ave. G.

Raffle tickets also are being sold to raise funds for the party.

The raffle tickets are available from any member of the junior class. The tickets are $20 each or six for $100. Prizes are a self-pampering spa basket, a weekend get-away at an area condominium, a commercial popcorn maker, $100 gift certificate to Crazy Cajun, a flounder fishing trip for four and a voyage aboard Captain Kirk Tiki Cruises.

To make a donation call Heather Collins at (361) 739- 7498 or Loan Herndon (361) 877-1983.

Project Graduation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization through the Youth Development Foundation of Port Aransas. It is funded through parents, family, friends and generous community supporters, according to the release.
