Project Grad donations needed

The Project Graduation committee is seeking donations from businesses and residents for the end-of-year graduation party for Port Aransas High School students.

Project Graduation is an all-night chemical-free lock-in party that begins after graduation on Thursday,

May 26. It is free to graduating seniors.

The event is a nation-wide tradition as an effort to prevent alcohol-and-drug-related accidents on graduation night.

“Our goal is to provide an event that is interesting and varied, to support attendance throughout the entire party,” said a press release from the Project Graduation committee. “To the seniors this translates to food, fun and prizes.”

The release said that donations can be monetary, merchandise or gift-certificates.

All donations received will be used for the 2022 graduating class.

“Each year we start from zero and use all the donations to ensure that each graduate leaves the event well-fed, having had a great time and with at least one door prize and one large gift,” the release said.

Project Graduation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization through the Youth Development Foundation of Port Aransas. It is funded through parents, family, friends and generous community supporters, according to the release.

Donations can be sent to 240 Dunes Way, Port Aransas, TX 78373.

For more information and to arrange for donation pick up call Heather Collins (361) 739-7498 or Starla Waddell (361) 416-0382.
