AEP, the electrical utility, is predicting that crews will have power restored to everyone who lost power today in Port Aransas by about 12:30 p.m.
That’s the word from Omar Lopez, an AEP spokesman that the South Jetty interviewed.
Some 854 electrical customers have been affected by the outage, which started shortly after 7 a.m., Lopez said.
The outage occurred as a lightning storm passed through town.
“We discovered downed primary cable at two different locations,” Lopez said. “We can’t quite confirm that a lightning strike did the damage, but we believe that weather/lighting is the cause.”
Power had been restored to 521 customers by 8:34 a.m., he said.
“The remaining 333 customers will be without power until all repairs are completed,” he said. “Right now, we are predicting 12:30 p.m.”
