Pitcher Nick Maxham was phenomenal on the mound despite the Marlins baseball team 4-6 loss over the Angels.

Incarnate Word Academy got the best of the Port Aransas High School team on Tuesday, March 18 in Corpus Christi.

Maxham kept great hitters off balance and from spotting his fastball all night, coach James Garrett said.

“We’re hitting and pitching well enough to be a great team. Fielding is holding us back from being the team that we can be,” he said.

The Marlins pocketed a run in the first inning, and then went scoreless for three while IWA scored two. Ultimately, the three more points Big Blue scored weren’t enough and the Angels came through with a victory.

The Port Aransas High School team played a big game on Friday, March 21, against Falls City for first place in district. (See related story.)
