The Port Aransas team played its fifth district game at home, setting its record at 4-1.
Both teams went scoreless in the first inning, but the Lady Marlins would rally in the second inning, sending eight girls home for a score of 8-0. Another scoreless inning during the third led to three more runs by the Lady Marlins in the fourth inning, 11-0.
The Lady Bobcats came up with four runs during the fifth inning, putting the score at 11-4. The Lady Marlins would hold Refugio back in the sixth inning from scoring again and picked up five more runs, calling the game with a 12-run advantage.
“Our offense came up with key hits throughout the game,” coach Jonathan Sheffield said.
Lindsey Uhlik was the winning pitcher for the Lady Marlins, striking out seven Lady Bobcats and giving up only three hits.
