Port Aransans participated in Buccaneer Days coronation

Port Aransas residents Ashby Snow and Kendall Owens took part in the 68th annual Buccaneer Days Coronation in Corpus Christi on May 5.

Snow was known as Her Grace Ashby Fariss of the House of Snow, the Duchess of Whimsical Hummingbird, Representing Perpetual Flights of Fancy. She was escorted by Ethan Hugh Salinsky of Portland, Ore.

Owens was known as Her Grace Kendall Grace Dian of the House of Owens and Duchess of the Majestic Stag, Representing Stately Grandeur. She was escorted by Matthew Anthony Alvarez of Corpus Christi.

Owens and Snow just finished their junior years at the University of Texas at Austin.

After the May 5 event, the dresses they wore were put on display at the Corpus Christi Art Center.

The coronation was presented by Las Doñas de la Corte.

It was “an event designed to pay homage to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand’s 16th century Spanish court and Alonso De Pineda, discoverer of Corpus Christi Bay,” said the website of the Las Doñas de la Corte organization. “The Coronation celebrates the past and the present, culminating in an evening of artistry and extraordinary courtly splendor.”

Snow is the daughter of Jana and Paul Snow of Port Aransas. Owens is the daughter of Beth and Kelly Owens of Port Aransas.
