Police Blotter

Information in this column was gleaned from Port Aransas Police Department records and interviews with department personnel. Everyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Monday, Feb. 27

3:48 p.m. • A woman was having trouble breathing and was transported from a business parking lot in the 600 block of North Alister Street to a Corpus Christi hospital.

Tuesday, Feb. 28

12:23 a.m. • Officers checked on a vehicle that had been parked for 20 minutes with the lights on in front of an RV park in the 300 block of West Cotter Avenue. The driver was asleep in the vehicle. The 76-year-old Boerne man was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

9:03 a.m. • A woman found her vehicle’s back passenger window busted out. She was parked overnight at a hotel in the 1900 block of State Highway 361. Nothing inside her vehicle was taken. Damage is valued at $500.

Wednesday, March 1

5:21 p.m. • A person reported to police his neighbor threatened to assault him. He did not want to press charges.

8:03 p.m. • A person reported to police that his father was missing out of Victoria and could be staying at a hotel in the 100 block of South Alister Street. Officers went to the location, but the man was not there.

Thursday, March 2

6:27 a.m. • Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle that had been parked at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute for three days. A man had been staying on the property out of his vehicle. Police issued him a criminal trespass warning.

10:40 a.m. • A woman reported to police that she had been assaulted the night before by her boyfriend at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of State Highway 361. She said he put his arm around her neck and started to squeeze. She did not want to press charges at this time.

7:16 p.m. • A woman reported to police that her coworker called her names and cussed at her at a restaurant. Before police arrived, her husband pushed her coworker against the freezer. The coworker, a 17-year-old Ingleside resident, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

8:55 p.m. • Officers responded to a physical disturbance at a convenience store in the 700 block of State Highway 361. Police spoke to a man who said his mother had threatened to leave him at the store. He had taken her keys, and she was trying to get them back from him. The 20-year-old San Antonio man was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Friday, March 3

12:38 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of a woman climbing on construction equipment and into an unfinished pool near West Avenue E and South Gulf Street. Police told the woman, who was homeless, to leave.

1:42 p.m. • Officers helped a 92-year-old woman cross the street near East Cotter Avenue and Tarpon Street.

2:01 p.m. •Two men were helping the reporting party repair his air conditioning unit on his RV at an RV park in the 2600 block of State Highway 361. The reporting party’s dog starting barking, and one of the two men said, “ The dog could use a nine millimeter to his head.” No gun was observed or displayed, and officers determined no offense was made.

9:05 p.m. • Officers gave a man a verbal warning for urinating in public in the 200 block of Howard Boulevard behind the Nueces County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4.

Saturday, March 4

2:56 a.m. • Officers responded to a fight at a restaurant in the 700 block of State Highway 361. An 18-year-old Port Aransas man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct fighting. A 50-year-old Aransas Pass man was arrested on Port Aransas municipal court warrants charging him with two counts of driving with an open container, two counts of driving with no driver’s license, failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.

6:36 p.m. • Officers stopped a vehicle at Cotter Avenue and the beach for displaying the wrong license plate. The driver, a 37-year-old Aransas Pass man, was arrested on Port Aransas municipal court warrants charging him with failure to appear and disregard of a traffic control device.

7:16 p.m. • Officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of East Avenue G for a broken brake light and failure to use a turning signal. Police smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, a 21-year-old Austin man, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger, an 18-year-old Austin woman, was arrested for public intoxication.

8:18 p.m. • A woman reported her father wanted to harm himself. Officers responded to his home. He was transported to a hospital in Corpus Christi.

Sunday, March 5

4:15 a.m. • An intoxicated woman struck a man in the face at a hotel in the 2600 block of State Highway 361. The 31-year-old San Antonio woman was arrested and charged with assault family violence.

9:46 a.m. • A woman reported her gun, a Sig Sauer valued at $650, was taken from her RV at an RV park in the 700 block of Sixth Street.
