Information in this column was gleaned from Port Aransas Police Department records and interviews with department personnel. Everyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Monday, Oct. 31

1:59 a.m. • Officers made contact with a man and a woman at a carwash in the 600 block of Cut-Off Road after a report of suspicious people at the location. A 37-year-old Laferia woman was arrested on four Cameron County warrants charging her with for two counts of failure to appear, terroristic threat of a family member and possession of a controlled substance.

9:54 a.m. • Floor tile valued at $5,000 was reported taken from inside a condominium structure under construction in the 4800 block of State Highway 361.

2:48 p.m. • Officers took a report of a woman trying to light the outside wall of an apartment complex on fire in the 2700 block of State Highway 361. A burn mark on the side of the wall had a damage value of $25.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

4:54 p.m. • A woman fell and hit her head behind a hardware store in the 1100 block of State Highway 361. When officers arrived, she had a strong odor of alcohol. The 64-year-old Port Aransas woman was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. A small amount of marijuana and a pipe was found in her purse.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

9:21 a.m. • A Toyota and a Dodge truck backed into each other in a bar parking lot in the 700 block of Trout Street. The driver of the Toyota tried to wave the other driver down, but the Dodge truck left. No injuries were reported.

10:56 a.m. • A person in a business in the 600 block of South Alister Street reported that they thought they saw a man with a gun outside. When officers arrived, the man was inside a liquor store in the 500 block of South Alister Street. The man did not have a gun. However, the 21-year-old Ingleside man was arrested on a San Patricio County warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance.

Thursday, Nov. 3

7:53 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person outside a home in the 400 block of South Gulf Street. The 41-year-old Corpus Christi man was arrested on a Nueces County warrant charging him with assault family violence.

10:04 p.m. • Officers made contact with three people standing outside a vehicle in a parking lot near the intersection of South Station Street and East Avenue G. They told police they were looking for keys and then left the area. Officers made contact with the people again at the intersection of North Station and Beach streets. A 24-year-old Corpus Christi man had a warrant charging him with violation of parole for aggravated assault with a weapon. The man fled the scene on foot. Police apprehended him in the 300 block of Church Street. He was arrested on the warrant and was charged with evading arrest and possession of a prohibited weapon. Officers found a shotgun in his possession. A 51-year-old Corpus Christi woman was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers found a methamphetamine pipe in her possession.

Friday, Nov. 4

9:04 a.m. • Officers made a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle at Mile Marker 627 on State Highway 361. The driver, a 35-year-old Port Aransas man, was arrested on a Nueces County warrant charging him with assault.

10:30 p.m. • Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle on the beach near Sandcastle Drive. Police issued a verbal warning for an open container of alcohol.

Saturday, Nov. 5

2:04 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of a missing child at Roberts Point Park. The child was found and reunited with his parents.

7:16 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated motorcycle driver after it appeared he laid his motorcycle down near the 500 block of East Cotter Avenue. Police made contact with the man, and he was not intoxicated. The motorcycle turned over because he hit soft sand when he pulled out of his driveway.

10:25 p.m. Officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a stop sign at the intersection of East Cotter Avenue and North Station Street. The driver, a 26-year-old Port Aransas woman, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

10:40 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of two men driving under the influence near a convenience store in the 500 block of East Cotter Avenue. When police arrived, the two men were inside the store and their vehicles were parked. They took a taxi home.

Sunday, Nov. 6

1:35 a.m. • Officers responded to a possible physical disturbance at a bar in the 400 block of North Alister Street. A man was being aggressive toward other people. The 25-year-old New Braunfels man was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

4:53 a.m. • Officers responded to a report of a black truck speeding and doing donuts on the beach. Police were not able to locate the vehicle.

5:08 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of three vehicles – a black Chevy, a maroon Ford and a red Chevrolet Impala – racing on the beach. Police didn’t find the vehicles.

6:06 p.m. • A woman reported two fraudulent charges totaling $261 on her debit card. She lost her debit card near a restaurant in the 400 block of Beach Street. The two charges were made at two different convenience stores, one in the 700 block of South Alister Street and the other in the 3500 block of State Highway 361.

8:56 p.m. • Officers saw a man stumbling on the sidewalk near East Oakes Avenue and North Alister Street. The 67-year-old Port Aransas man was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

10:04 p.m. • Officers responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated man on foot at the ferry landing on Harbor Island. The man was yelling and acting erratically. Officers made contact with him, and he was not intoxicated. He was offered a ride, food and water but denied all forms of help.
