Police Blotter


Information in this column was gleaned from Port Aransas Police Department records and interviews with department personnel. Everyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Monday, July 4

1:39 a.m. • Police received a report about someone trying to throw a TV off a balcony in the 200 block of Cotter Avenue. They arrested a 19-year-old man from Bastrop, and they cited a 17-year-old man from Smithville, an 18-year-old woman from Smithville, an 18-year-old man from Bastrop and a 19-year-old man from Bastrop for underage alcohol offenses. A criminal mischief complaint is under investigation.

1:49 a.m. • A 27-year-old man from Kerrville was arrested for public intoxication in the 200 block of Alister Street man after he was found passed out in his vehicle’s driver seat.

9:55 a.m. • A man, whose vehicle was damaged when a 20-year-old man from Bastrop threw fireworks in it at Pole 30 On the Beach and was arrested on July 3 for evading police, decided to press charges for criminal mischief against the arrested man due to extensive burn damage to his vehicle’s interior.

4:15 p.m. • Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Austin for minor in consumption at Pole 33 On the Beach after he was observed in a fight and could not calm down after it was broken up.

4:35 p.m. • An 18-year-old man from Leander was arrested for minor in possession at Pole 33 On the Beach after police received a disturbance complaint.

5:38 p.m. • A 20-year-old man from Spring and a 19-year-old man from Agua Dulce were arrested for minor in consumption at Pole 33 On the Beach after they were observed pushing each other.

6:03 p.m. • An 18-year-old woman from Del Valle and an 18-year-old woman from Round Rock were arrested for disorderly conduct after they fought at Pole 29 On the Beach.

6:18 p.m. • A vehicle received $2,000 damage after it was struck by a hit and run driver in a convenience store parking lot in the 500 block of West Cotter Avenue.

Tuesday, July 5

1:09 a.m. • A 23-year-old man from Corpus Christi was arrested for public intoxication at Avenue G and Alister Street after he got out of a car being driven by another person and was observed to be intoxicated. Wednesday, July 6

3:14 a.m. • Four women were cited for underage alcohol offenses and three of them were charged with shoplifting after they stole beer in the 700 block of State Highway 361 and a witness followed them. A 17-year-old from Austin, a 20-year-old from Cedar Park and a 17-year-old from Cedar Park were charged with minor possession and shoplifting. A 16-year-old from Austin was charged with minor in possession.

10:08 a.m. • A four-year-old girl turned blue and was coughing up water at a pool in the 200 block of Pleasant Valley. She was transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi.

2:02 p.m. • A man with a fishhook in the back of his head and ear went to the police station for help. Emergency Medical Services advised him to seek help from an emergency clinic or hospital as they cannot treat such injuries.

4:03 p.m. • A five-year-old girl was reported lost at Pole 18 On the Beach. She was found in eight minutes and returned to her parents.

Thursday, July 7

2:24 a.m. • A 24-year-old man from San Antonio was arrested during a traffic stop for driving while intoxicated in the 400 block of Alister Street.

3:36 p.m. • A 39-year-old man from Robstown was cited for driving in the center lane at Mile Marker 626 after Corpus Christi police alerted Port Aransas police that a reckless driver was headed their way.

Friday, July 9

10:59 a.m. • While investigating a disturbance at the 2000 block of On the Beach police arrested a 21-year-old woman from Port Aransas on a family violence warrant.

Saturday, July 9

12:22 a.m. • A 22-year-old man from Rogers was arrested for public intoxication after he ripped off the bumper on a golf cart in the 400 block of North Alister Street. A criminal mischief charge is pending.

6:21 a.m. • A 43-year-old homeless man was arrested for vandalism after he wrote on the door and mirror in a convenience store bathroom in the 500 block of Cotter Avenue.

Sunday, July 10

1:39 a.m. • A traffic stop at Pole A On the Beach led to a 40-year-old man and a 45-year-old man from San Antonio both being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and being felons in possession of firearms after a glass pipe was observed in the vehicle. A canine search resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine.

2:35 a.m. • A 19-year-old man from Florence was arrested at a fast food restaurant in the 700 block of State Highway 361 for public intoxication after he fell asleep at a table.

8:03 a.m. • A 59-year-old man from Greenville died of natural causes in the 400 block of North Station Street.

11:03 p.m. • A 25-year-old man from San Marcos was arrested for public intoxication at Pole 21 On the Beach after he argued with his girlfriend who was refusing to give him the keys to his vehicle.
