Olive Belle Pearson, 81, of Corpus Christi died on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. She was the mother of Charles “Chuck” L. (Reta) Pearson, Arthur Joseph “Joe” Pearson and June (David Grotsky) Pearson, all of Port Aransas.

Pearson was born in Gonzales County on Oct. 4, 1926, to Thomas J. and Myrtle Loleat Copeland May.

During the Great Depression, she and her family survived by picking cotton. In the late 1930s they moved to Corpus Christi.

In 1945 she married Charles Pearson. He was a U.S. Marine who went on to become a major. During their marriage they lived on three continents and raised five children.

Pearson graduated with honors from Corpus Christi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education at the age of 55. She then went on to earn a Master’s degree.

She taught in Corpus Christi ISD until 2007.

She is preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include five children. In addition to the two sons and daughter in Port Aransas, she had one other son; Andrew Jack (Gretchen) Pearson of Lockhart; one daughter, Cheri McDonald of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, Sept. 22, and graveside services were held at Duncan Cemetery in Flour Bluff on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
