What is 'our delight?'

Psalms 1:-6 “…his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he mediates day and night…”

The Psalms are rich and beautiful, rewarding to us because they are diverse, personal expressions of men in their walk before God. I’ve found their directness, dignity, and simplicity to be helpful in strengthening my own prayer life.

As this psalm suggests, our delight is in doing everything God wants us to, meditating on His word day and night, thinking about ways to follow Him more closely.

The contrast between those whose lives are committed to godliness and those who are godless is stark. God watches over the paths of those “delighting” in His way, but the path of the godless leads nowhere.

When our way is committed to following God, our life “bears precious fruit,” just like a never-withering tress planted along a riverbank. This beautiful psalms, when practiced, produces a beautiful life for you and me.
