PAST members win at state

Port Aransas Swim Team members won nine medals and 27 ribbons at the Texas Amateur Athletic Foundation (TAAF) Summer Games of Texas state meet on Thursday through Sunday, July 21 through 24.

Twenty-four members of the Port Aransas Swim Team competed at the Corpus Christi Natatorium.

Swimmers who placed first-to-third earned medals, and places four through eighth won ribbons.

Following are the individual results for PAST team members who placed first through eighth at the meet.

Girls 8 & Under

Lainey Watson

“Many of the swimmers are on the young end of the age groups this year,” said Katherine Mathews, PAST coach. “I can’t wait to see what we do next.”

In 2021, 10 PAST members qualified for the 2022 State Games of America to be held in Des Moines, Iowa. Seven members will be travelling to Des Moines to compete July 29 and 30.

Team members who will be competing are Austin Elam, Lilliana Fick, Parker Gunn, Cooper Gunn, Hendrix Matthews, Annabel Smith and Kirra Sohl.
