Parrot Heads raise thousands for local nonprofits

More than 200 gathered for the Wings Over Port A event on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sept. 30.

The event was put on by Parrot Heads of Port Aransas.

More than $20,000 was raised to benefit Amos Rehabilitation

Keep (ARK) and the Moore-McDonald VFW Post 8967 Care and Share Christmas project.

Friday night included a shrimp boil on the beach with a bonfire and kite flying event. Music was provided by Dan Sullivan of Austin.

Saturday included a tour of the ARK and a poker run at bars. The evening consisted of a beach-casual gala at the Civic Center with raffles, a silent auction and live music by Lost Shaker of Salt band.
