PAHS tracksters compete well despite bad weather

Saturday, March 5, wasn’t a good weather day for Port Aransas High School track athletes at Woodsboro, but it was a good day for competing.

They returned home with several ribbons, including four for first place. But a cold front that blew through the Coastal Bend made competing miserable, said coach Javier Mendoza.

“The day started badly, with postponements for bad weather,” he reported.

Strong winds made running difficult, and in fact, officials moved the running events to the morning (10:30 a.m.) instead of the afternoon (1 p.m.) because of the weather.

“The kids ran hard and competed well,” Mendoza said, however.
