The Marlins played a warmup game against the Palacios Sharks, a 2A team that also is competing in the playoffs.
Port Aransas shark- attacked their opponent, earning an 8-3 victory on Monday, April 28, there.
Marlins coach James Garrett said his team got exactly what they wanted out of the Sharks. The PAHS team that competed in a bi-district competition last week was able to get some time in on the field just before they played game one of a series against London on Thursday, May 1.
Garrett said no one got hurt, the guys hit the ball well, only made one error all game and played good defense – a great way to start off playoffs.
Big Blue pitched four guys and Garrett said no one really stood out above the rest, but combined, the “A-game” throwers struck out 10 Shark players.
“We had seven hits, but most importantly we hit the ball very well – put pressure on them to make plays and they (Palacios) struggled,” Garrett said.
