Ezequiel Ramirez carries lumber to a construction site behind the Board House surf shop in the 500 block of North Alister Street. Ramirez, who works for Gabriel Construction, is working on what will be three units. One of them will be occupied by the Board House, according to Bruce Clark, whose mother, Sandy Clark, owns the property. The other two spaces hadn’t been leased when this photo was taken on April 29, but Bruce Clark says there has been ‘lots of interest in them.’ The structure will stand on short piers in what is called pier-and-beam construction. The buildings in front of the new construction will be torn down. Besides the Board House, those structures were formerly occupied by Irie’s Island Food and The Connoisseur shop, both have moved to new spaces, also owned by the Clark family, in the 200 block of West Avenue G.
