The JV Marlins won their homecoming game against the Benavides High School Eagles on Friday, Jan. 9.

The Port Aransas team dominated in the first quarter, shutting out the Eagles, 22-0. The end of the first half gave the Marlins a 30-point advantage going into halftime, 36-6.

“We started this game with crazy energy,” coach Kris Jones said. “Our man-to-man and our half-court press attack created many turnovers and we converted most of these opportunities.”

The second half started with the Marlins keeping the Eagles from scoring in the third and the Marlins putting up 12 more points on the board. The Marlins finished the game with a 45-point lead against Benavides’ 12 points.

“I am very proud of the work this group has put in,” Jones said. “They really love to be in the gym and it shows when we play.”

Kreutziger also shot two three-pointers with Diaz Nesloney and Aaron Peterson each making one.
