JV pops Pettus, 22-1

The junior varsity Marlins gave Pettus a 22-1 drubbing in four innings at Port Aransas on Tuesday, March 29, with the game being called in the bottom of the fourth under a UIL rule on scoring.

The rule says a game can end after at least four innings if one team is ahead by 10 points or more.

The Marlins got 15 hits in scoring their 22 runs. Nick Maxham, Blue Shodrok, Austin Shoddy and Jake Roberts each scored three times.

Andrew Follett hit a double and a triple, batting in four; Christian Johnson also doubled and tripled and batted in three; and Roberts got two hits and accounted for four RBIs.

Maxham started on the mound, striking out five batters in two innings. Roberts pitched the third inning, fanning three, and Follett took over for the final frame.

A game scheduled for the JV Marlins at Falls City for Friday, April 1, was canceled because of excessive water on the diamond.
