JV, fish teams take first

First places were earned by the Port Aransas High School freshman and junior varsity tennis teams at the Kingsville High School Tournament on Friday, Nov. 4.

The Port Aransas players competed against teams from Miller and King high schools in Corpus Christi as well as Kingsville.

Junior Varsity

First place finishes in boys doubles and mixed doubles and second places in boys singles and boys doubles as well as the consolation prize put the junior varsity in first place as a team.

Results are as follows:

Boys Singles

George Clower finished in second place after losing in the finals, 1-6, 3-6.

J.D. Gonzalez defeated Kingsville, 6-1, 6-1 to win the consolation division.

Boys Doubles

StevieRay Stephensen and Jacob Williams defeated John Feil and Mat Allen, all from Port Aransas in the finals, 6-4, 3-6, 12-10.

Mixed Doubles

Toby Suphachia and Brayden Martin defeated King in the finals, 6-2, 6-1.

The freshman team took first place with first and third place finishes in girls singles, a second place in girls doubles and a third place in boys singles.

Results were as follows:

Freshman

Girls Singles

Sara Schey took first with a 6-0, 6-4 win over King.

Parker Burkett defeated Miller, 6-1, 6-0, for third place.

Girls Doubles

Kallee Castleberry and Nicole Sullivan took second place with a loss to Miller, 2-6, 3-6, in the finals.

Boys Singles

R.D. Alcorn took third place with a loss to Kingsville, 7-5, 2-6, 5-10.

The team is coached by Vic Dimond.
