Successful season wraps up; volunteers needed for next year

Things are winding down at the Joint Effort Leisure Ministries program.

More than 1,000 people participated in the 2014-2015 season.

“To make this a better program we ask the public to share their talents with us. If you can teach a craft, teach a language or know of any new games, call the JELM to get on the schedule for next season. We are always open to new ideas. We are currently looking for a beginning watercolor instructor, a French instructor (or any other language) and we need a yoga instructor for November and December. If you are qualified to fill these spots and want to volunteer, contact the JELM office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at (361) 749-5321 or email us at jelm@portabc.com,” Pat Reilly, JELM director said.

The JELM program officially continues until the end of March, however participants should check with the instructor to see if the class will continue until then.

The Port A Opry will continue to hold Tuesday and Friday performances through the end of March.

The Two Sisters Arts and Crafts instructors, Colleen Brewster and Joanne Piepho, have left several jewelry kits at the Greeter’s Desk in the JELM. They have provided kits for those missing a class or kits for those wishing to make duplicate projects.

“ This is why Joanne and Colleen were voted Winter Texans of the Year. They are so thoughtful and conscientious,” Reilly said.
