Garage sale will help send BMS youth to UK

A fundraising garage sale for Lomenick Cartwright will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, beginning at 8 a.m.

Cartwright, a seventhgrader at Brundrett Middle School, has been selected to participate in the People to People Ambassador program. He was nominated by BMS social studies and health teacher, Paul Balcom, and will travel to the United Kingdom this summer, said his mother Krystal Cartwright.

According to their Web site, People to People Ambassador Program, established nearly 50 years ago, organizes and promotes global educational travel opportunities to bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange. The program provides opportunities for students to experience new cultures, places and activities, gain behind-the-scenes access to people and destinations and earn academic credit.

The garage sale will help Cartwright raise money for his trip. Furniture, games, copy paper, educational items and more will be for sale at 128 E Ave. F.
