Fundraisers are underway for the family of a Port Aransas worker who was killed in a car accident on Harbor Island on Wednesday, June 29.
Twenty-four-year-old Aransas Pass resident Ivan Siverand, who worked as a stocker at the Family Center IGA, was on his way home Wednesday night when the wreck happened.
The grocery store is accepting donations to help Siverand’s family pay for his funeral expenses.
Anyone paying at the registers can donate by paying a bit more than they owe for groceries, Moore said. The amount is up to the customer. Jars also have been set up at the store for cash contributions.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Siverand. It can be accessed at www.gofundme.com/f/ivan-siverand?qid=a2e4fe5fd6234eafc621806fbfb03a8d.
As of Friday, July 1, a total of $870 had been raised. The goal is $1,500.
