Foul weather doesn’t keep voters from polls

Voters in Port Aransas didn’t let cold, wet weather keep them from voting in the Republican and Democratic primary elections on Tuesday, March 4.

Of the 3,030 Precinct 19 registered voters, 17.16 percent of them voted.

While most races were decided in the primaries, at least two key races will go to a run-off election.

Incumbent Republican Nueces County Commissioner in Precinct 4, Joe McComb, will face challenger Brent Chesney in the runoff on May 27.

GOP Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst also finds himself in a runoff against Dan Patrick, a radio personality and Tea Party conservative.

Early voting for the run-off will be May 19-23.

Following are results of key races in both primaries.
