Fireworks display set on Fourth of July

A fireworks display that rivals the big city shows will light up the night sky in Port Aransas on Thursday, July 4.

The display, marking the 237th Independence Day in the United States, will start just after dark.

The city, in conjunction with Charles Butt of San Antonio and Port Aransas, and owner of the Lydia Ann Lighthouse, sponsor the show.

The city has secured the same company that has produced the show for the past several years, Zambelli Fireworks Internationale of Pennsylvania. The show lasts about 45 minutes.

The fireworks will be ignited from the Corpus Christi Ship Channel side of Roberts Point Park. Spectators may view the display from the park, but will be kept away from the ignition site.

The display should be visible from just about anywhere in Port Aransas.

Shooting fireworks is prohibited in the city limits of Port Aransas as well as in the City of Corpus Christi, the city limits of which abut the city limits of Port Aransas. Typically, law enforcement officers confiscate fireworks from violators.
