FBC reaches out to church helping Ukrainian refugees

As the Russian war on Ukraine continues, many folks are wondering how best to help out the millions of refugees fleeing into neighboring countries as well as those who are staying behind.

William Campbell, pastor of First Baptist Church in Port Aransas has found a way. Campbell contacted a church in Warsaw, Poland, that is helping Ukrainian refugees to see how his parishioners could help.

He received a response from the church’s pastor and wants to share it with the Port Aransas Community.

“Dear FBC Family,

“I mentioned this past Sunday that I contacted a church in Warsaw, Poland, that is helping the refugees from Ukraine. I received a response from the pastor at City Church, Warsaw:

“This is Scott Curley, lead pastor at City Church Warsaw. Thanks for reaching out!

“We are meeting the needs of the Ukrainian refugees in practical ways, sharing the love of God and trying to be his hands and feet.

“Tomorrow I will be buying two bunk beds for the kids of a family group of 10 Ukrainian refugees crammed in a small apartment.

“Then we’ll be helping another group of six women and children who are being relocated, to buy food, personal care supplies, and other necessary items as they basically have no money.

“This week we will be buying water, toothbrushes, produce, diapers and other supplies and delivering them to refugees at Warsaw Central Station.

“That’s what your support will enable us to continue to do. If you would like to send money, you can follow this link to give to a dedicated Ukrainian Relief Fund account through Communitas International, the US-based mission board that I have been serving with for the last 26 years, and through whom City Church Warsaw was planted. Here’s the link: my.simplegive.com/App/Form/6d842e66-5ce8-4454-9103-fca5f65d88a3.

“Thanks for partnering with us to love on these refugees!

“There will be no 10 percent administrative fee, but credit and debit card gifts will incur a 3-percent fee. That fee can be avoided by using the online ACH bank account option, or by sending a check to: Christian Associates International d/b/a Communitas PO Box 60543 Industry, CA 91716-0543 (Check donations should include a note designating the gift to project 72502.)

“Please prayerfully consider helping a sister church that is reaching out and helping a group that desperately needs help.

“Stay Anchored, William.”
