Family teams will compete in a series of challenges in the Amazing Race – Family Edition on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Port Aransans are invited to form teams made up of family and friends to compete in a race fashioned after the race on the televised show.
The teams will race around the Port Aransas Community Park and through the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture.
They will compete head-to-head with other teams in challenges like disc golf or basketball.
The teams will work to avoid detours while hunting for treasures, tossing water balloons and working through roadblocks that will test the skills and determination of each team member, according to organizers.
Teams must have at least four members, but not more than six. All teams must have at least one member over 18. All team members must be older than 11.
Organizers said that not all team members will compete in the same challenge, roadblock or detour.
They recommend that entrants wear clothes that are OK to get dirty and wet. Participants may want to bring towels and swimsuits.
The competition is limited to six teams of up to six members.
Registration is required. To register, go to porta.recdesk.com.
The “Amazing Race – Family Edition” is sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department.
