DSR early registration continues through July 1


There is still time for anglers planning to take part in the 86th annual Deep Sea Roundup to take advantage of early registration pricing.

The grand-daddy of Gulf coast fishing tournaments is set for Thursday through Sunday, July 7 to 10.

The tournament is hosted by the Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc. and this year it will take place once again at the traditional locations of the Civic Center and the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion at Roberts Point Park.

Early registration is $100 for adults and $80 for junior divisions through Friday, July 1.

To register in advance, go to www.deepsearoundup.com and click on Online Registration at the top of the page.

Registration may be made online or the form may be printed out and mailed with checks payable to PAB Inc. to P.O. Box 271, Port Aransas, TX 78373.

There are six divisions in the roundup: bay-surf, offshore, flyfishing, kayaking, tarpon release and billfish release. There is a separate awards category for junior anglers 17 years old and younger in the bay-surf and offshore divisions. In addition, there are awards for top woman angler and the Piggy Perch Contest.

The tournament will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, with onsite registration at the Civic Center.

Onsite registration fees will be $125 for adults and $100 for junior divisions. There is no charge for the Piggy Perch Contest on Friday and Saturday.

Registration fees include dinner and drinks Thursday through Saturday.
