Few, if any, have devoted more personal time to supporting Port Aransas schools and their students than Cyndi Christenson.

Christenson was recognized on Wednesday, May 11, by the Port Aransas ISD Board of Trustees for her 15 years of volunteer work at the school district.

A video made by Port Aransas High School student Hunter Stunz was presented in which students and teachers talked about Christenson’s impact on the school district.

H.G. Olsen Elementary School students performed a song and dance in Christenson’s honor during the meeting.

Christenson’s roles have included president of the PTO and Youth Development Foundation.

Through the Youth Development Foundation, she wrote and was awarded $60,000 in grants that have been spent on scholarships and student clubs at PAISD.

She has led youth groups at PAHS, Brundrett Middle School and the elementary school.

She also served as a substitute teacher.

Trustees decided to recognize Christenson for her years of service to the school district because she is planning to move from her Port Aransas home to New Mexico soon.
