Crazy Cart Crawl

Everyone invited to take part in town-wide scavenger hunt Saturday

Port Aransas residents and visitors can win prizes by entering the Crazy Cart Crawl on Saturday, June 25.

Folks are invited to take part in a scavenger hunt-style race around town to earn points for prizes.

The City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department is the event sponsor.

The golf cart scavenger hunt will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with check-in starting at 10:30 a.m. at the parks and recreation office, 106 Cut-off Road.

The number of participants on each cart cannot be more than the legal number of folks allowed for the cart. Participants must follow all traffic laws, and only licensed drivers may drive the carts.

Each team of participants will have three hours to earn as many points as possible by searching out the various stops and clues and snapping photos with their phones. Participants need a QR code reader on a phone.

After collecting as many photos as possible, the teams will return to the starting place to have their points tallied.

There are five different ways to earn points during the crawl.

Snap 60: There are 60 photo opportunities in the hunt.

Solve the Clue, for Two: Each team will be given a clue that will guide them to points of interest in town. There, the teams will find a QR code with a question to answer that relates to the location.

Catch the Character: Snap photos of costumed parks and rec friends that will be hiding in different locations throughout town.

Bring us Points: During the hunt teams should be on the lookout for colored rings and inflatable objects stashed in different locations. The teams are to collect them and return to the finish line to earn points.

Final Finish: When teams return to the finish line, points will be earned based on the time that each team arrives.

At the finish line, participants will complete the “photo journal” of the hunt and have free snacks.

The team with the most points will be declared the winner.

Register for the event by going to porta.recdesk.com. Entry is free.
